Meet Our Team
James Zhang
Founder and CEO
James has been on the cutting edge of digital entertainment for nearly two decades. Since its founding in 2007, James has built Concept Art House into one of the video game industry’s most celebrated art services companies, and continues to establish lasting partnerships with industry powerhouses such as Activision/Blizzard, 2K, Tencent, Kabam, Netease, and Supercell.
He additionally serves on several Advisory Boards including: 1World Online, a crowdsource service that combines social polling with analytics, Redemption Games, a leading casual game developer, Waygate, an interactive VR content platform and Wistla, a social activities mobile app.
Prior to Concept Art House, James was Art Director at Factor 5 where he led the artistic development of Lair - a PlayStation 3 launch title - and was a concept artist on Star Wars and other bestselling LucasArts Entertainment franchises.
Jenny Chen
President of Asia Operations
Jenny graduated in electrical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1999. While studying she developed a B2B e-marketing platform, influencing her future direction. In 2003 Jenny began work in the emerging media industry at Everest Media. She then moved into computer games art outsourcing at Massive Black to build the initial Shanghai operations, attracting blue chip clients and over 40 staff. From here she moved to Electronic Arts, Shanghai, as an operations director of an in-house art outsourcing group. Jenny returned to media as the head of the Shanghai office of Walk-On Advertising before co-founding and becoming CEO of advertising agency iMedia China Holdings in Beijing.
Matthew Le Merle
Chairman of the Board
Matthew Le Merle is co-founder and Managing Partner of Fifth Era and Keiretsu Capital - the most active early stage venture investors backing almost 200 companies a year.
Matthew grew up in England before living most of his life in Silicon Valley where he raised his five children with his wife Alison Davis. Today he splits his time between the US and UK. By day he is an investor in technology companies and a bestselling author and speaker on innovation, investing and the future having worked at McKinsey, A.T. Kearney, Monitor, Booz and Gap. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, writing and photography. He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford and Stanford and is an adjunct professor at Singularity University.
MIKE Jimenez
Chief Technology Officer
Mike Jimenez is a seasoned technical leader with over 25 years of experience. Mike has held executive roles and founded startups in enterprise payment systems, peer-to-peer software, gaming (social/mobile/AR), fashion tech, and decentralized applications. Mike began his career as a software developer at Silicon Graphics, Inc., served as CyberSource’s Chief Architect, operated as VP of Engineering for various consumer software and gaming startups, and has been operating as a CTO for the past decade. Mike has invested his time into the blockchain space since 2015 and more recently has been involved with various NFT projects.
Jennie Martinez
Chief Financial Officer
Jennie is a licensed CPA and experienced CFO with nearly 20 years of experience in finance and accounting. Jennie began her career in public accounting with Ernst & Young and Moss Adams. After serval years, she left public accounting and worked as a VP of Finance and CFO at serval companies including CFO at 5th Planet Games Inc. Jennie also founded J. Lee Financial, a fractional CFO and outsourced accounting firm providing guidance to start-ups and mid-sized companies to establish scalable infrastructure to support growth. In 2016, Jennie was one of the Sac Business Journal’s “CFO of the Year” honeries and in 2019 she was recognized as one of Sacramento’s “40 under 40”.
Klark Xia
Chief Strategy Officer
Klark is an entrepreneur and previously co-founded Bowei Tech, a leading Filecoin ecosystem company in China. Before founding Bowei Tech, he was the Director of Publishing for Chinese public company Talkweb’s mobile game division. He has a strong background in blockchain and investing as a foundin g partner of Blockchain Coinvestors, one of the world’s top performing blockchain funds of funds. He majored in Psychology and graduated with Cum Laude from University of California, Los Angeles.
KJ Yu
Vice President of Production
KJ is the VP of Production at Concept Art House. He began as a concept artist in 2010 and is an integral part of the company. Since joining, he's led hundreds of projects from inception to ship. He focuses on art direction, team building, resource management, and overall studio quality.
Ken Chou
Lead Concept Artist
As the Creative Director of Concept Art House, Ken is responsible for art direction and premium art creation. Since 2007, Ken has contributed to many of the most recognized brands in digital entertainment including Hearthstone, League of Legends, Marvel, NBA2K, PubG, World of Warcraft, and many other titles.
Rob winkler
Head of Games
Rob is a gaming executive and free-to-play game expert. he co-founded 5th Planet Games and created Dawn of the Dragons which became the most played and highest revenue game on Kongregate’s gaming platform. 5th Planet Games was acquired by Huge Games in 2018. Rob later joined Scopely as the Senior Director of Product before joining Concept Art House in 2021 to head up the company’s NFT gaming division.
Penni Johnson
Business Development Manager
Penni has 10 years of Sales and Leadership experience in the gaming retail industry. She’s spent the past 3 years focused on growing and developing a 26 million dollar market in the Bay Area. She’s a Business Development Manager who supports key accounts such as 2K, Blizzard, and Zynga. Penni is extremely passionate about finding creative solutions and growing authentic relationships.
EVE MILAN
Account Manager
Eve is an Account Manager with 10 years of game development experience. She spent several years at 5th Planet Game as Art Director building leading games. She has held a number of roles in the industry including: Game Artist, UI, UX, and Art Director giving her unparalleled experience she uses in her job today. She supports many of our long time clients including Roblox, Pixelberry, and Kabam. With her work history and deep understanding of development she is an expert in meeting clients needs and priorities.
Willie zhou
Product Manager
Willie is an analytical product owner and previously operated Scopely’s The Walking Dead: Road to Survival. He has a strong background in mobile games monetization and derivatives trading. Willie majored in Statistics and Business Administration at Western University’s Ivery Business School.
